What Does Drug Court Involve?
Drug Court focuses on education, treatment, and getting the offender to
be accountable for their actions. Drug Court also involves the following:
- Drug education
- Payment of fees
- Urinalysis testing (drug testing)
- Participation in a support group
- Frequent contact with the court
- Meeting with a probation officer
In order to qualify for Drug Court, the offender must be guilty of drug
possession or drug use, they cannot be guilty of selling drugs. The offender
cannot have a violent crime history and they cannot be on methadone maintenance.
If an offender (probationer) does will with Drug Court and he or she complies
with all of their terms and conditions, the probationer may earn
early termination and
misdemeanor designation (where applicable) in as little as 12 months.
